This Kohatu and plague are just to the right of the site where our  whare tupuna “Te Kohera” used to stand.

The Koruru “Rangipumamao” came from the top of this whare and it now hangs in the Tuwharetoa Gallery at the Taupo Museum. The trust employed Rick Tawa to set the Kohatu into concrete as a lasting memorial to our whare tupuna. It stands as a memorial to our Whare Tupuna and to those who lived in this area in days gone by.
